Exercise to help deal with uncertainty

I have been self-quarantined since mid-March and it's starting to wear thin that's for sure! I imagine it's the same for most of us who are lucky enough to not be sick or who have to work on the frontlines.

That being the case, I thought I'd share some things that I find helpful to stay sane and healthy under the circumstances~

First things first: I use the principles I learned in recovery from alcoholism a bunch of years ago but have become a way of life and which I believe are good for anyone. The ideas of living one day at a time, or even one hour at a time and acceptance are keystones.

Equal parts love and discipline

I wanted to share some wisdom-some of which I've shared before and seems worth repeating now. I learned this formula from my motherβ€”a woman born during the 1918 flu pandemic, lived through the Great Depression and WW II and raised 7 children. When I asked her "secret" to good parenting she replied "equal parts love and discipline-and to discipline doesn't mean to scold, criticize or hit, but to be consistent". I thought this was a lovely and brilliant idea. I've tried to use this as a parent myself, as well as for my personal growth and have shared with clients...and so reworked it as "equal parts SELF-LOVE and SELF -DISCIPLINE.
